Cirencester Rotary Club have been working in partnership with Hope Cirencester and with the support of Cirencester College to deliver adult literacy support to adults in the community. Recently, they celebrated the achievements their learners have made since the project began.

The Adult Literacy Project was initiated in 2021, when Rotary Club members attended a training session delivered by Cirencester College, on supporting adult literacy and breaking down barriers.

Since 2022, with the support of Hope Cirencester, volunteers from the Rotary Club have run weekly meetings with the aim of supporting adults in the community with limited reading skills.

Recently, in their final meeting before Christmas, the Rotary Club celebrated the achievements their learners have made during the project. Andrew Tubb, in his capacity as CEO of Cirencester Town Council, presented each learner with a well-earned certificate.

Rotary Club member Alan Rice-Smith said, “It has been really rewarding for all of our team working with mature adults who are committed to improving their literacy skills.”

Well done to the learners, and volunteers from the Rotary Club, on their involvement with this brilliant project.
