Congratulations to Year 2 T-level Health: Adult Nursing student, Sofiia, who was recently named ‘T-level Student of the Year’ by the Gloucestershire Healthcare Trust, where she completed her industry placement.

During her industry placement, Sofiia worked in the minor injuries and illness unit, and relished the opportunity to work with nurses, paramedics, and healthcare assistants. Sofiia approached her placement with enthusiasm and dedication and worked extra hours in the holidays which resulted in her completing her placement hours ahead of the deadline.

Sofiia was nominated for this award by her colleagues, and was recently presented with her certificate at college.

One of Sofiia’s colleagues from the minor injuries and illness unit said “When Sofiia first started, she was shy and quiet, and she has developed her confidence by pushing herself out of her comfort zone and doing independent learning to help her role in MIIU. She was a pleasure to work with, with many patients giving similar verbal feedback. Sofiia always arrived on time and ready to work, was always eager to learn new skills and has massively developed her knowledge of dressings and common minor injury and illness presentations. She was always willing to help and be kind to staff, patients, and relatives, asked appropriate questions and acted in a kind and caring manner. She learnt how to apply splints and do wound care with supervision brilliantly.”

Clare Wrenne, Employer Relationship Advisor, said “It has been a pleasure to see Sofiia’s confidence grow. She has represented the college and herself so well on her placement.”
