Are you interested in working as a nurse, midwife or paramedic?  This ground-breaking course provides a route into these roles. The arrival of our new T-level Building complete with our own Hospital Ward, makes this the course to head for in 2023.

The course is called Adult Nursing, which is ideal for that, but its broad focus on nursing, good practice in health care and understanding the NHS makes it useful in many other branches of health care. A major placement, where you work with patients and health professionals, is a central part of the course and we can try to tailor that to reflect your ambitions. The course is also suitable for those of you who wish to go on to University to study nursing or health at a higher level.

What is different about T-levels is the fact they have been designed and built by employers from the ground up to be a high-level technical qualification that is the equivalent of three A-levels, including all the cutting-edge real requirements for working in the modern workplace. New for 2023 - Floristry is far more than flower arranging. Of course, you will learn all the skills you will need to produce amazing displays, but you will also be designing and making structures for more elaborate installations and learning how to look after flowers. Think of it as 3D art with flowers. Your introduction to all aspects of the business will range from customer care to stock
control to sales. Along the way you will learn all about the land-based sector, some plant biology, design principles and how to use a wide range of tools and materials so that you are ready to move into your career. New for 2023 - The horticulture industry offers a range of careers and contributes over £24 billion to the UK economy. If you are interested in plants, have a creative flair or enjoy the scientific element, then horticulture could be the course for you. Horticulture will often take the classroom outside for much of the course, where learners will gain an understanding of plants, trees, garden therapy, pest control, aquatics and lawns. Throughout the course you will learn all about their biology and how to grow and keep them healthy. You will learn the skills of landscaping a garden using paths, fences, pergolas and creating planting schemes and how to safely use the tools and materials necessary to complete the jobs. New for 2023 - In 2019 Creative Industries contributed £116 billion to the UK economy and grew twice as fast between 2011 and 2019 than the rate of the UK economy as a whole. Between 2019 & 2020 Creative Industries accounted for over 2.2 million jobs. “72% of the creative workforce are highly qualified, i.e. hold a degree/ higher level qualification (Level 4 or higher) or equivalent compared with 45% for the whole economy in 2019” (Source: DCMS 2021) It is with this background data that the T-level in Craft & Design has been developed. The T-level will be a key stepping stone for any individual to move into apprenticeships or higher education within a creative field. Core creative content will be taught throughout the 2-year course, allowing students to develop a sound understanding and awareness of the commercial aspects of running a creative business, alongside theoretical knowledge of how the individual works within organisations of all sizes, students will also gain valuable experiences through work placements.

Students will be able to choose to work within an occupational specialism in year 2 which might include fashion/textiles, ceramics, furniture or jewellery making. This focused learning will be supported through your individual work placements and in-class learning.

The T-level in Craft & Design will be taught in brand-new, specialist teaching rooms in the new ‘art lofts’ at Cirencester College, and delivered by highly skilled lecturers and technicians. The creative skills being learnt will allow the students to develop their confidence in a wide range of materials, processes and areas of designing & making. All of the different elements of the T-level will be delivered through project based learning with a mixture of hands on making, team work, employability skills and research and presentation opportunities.

We have had a great A-level Textiles course at the College for many years and keep having requests for a full-time course. The new T-levels have given us the chance to do this and we are delighted to be offering this course in the brand new ‘Art Lofts’ we are currently building. This course will develop your design skills and understanding of fabric, form and manufacture and equip you with the skill required in this exciting major industry. A key part of this will be your placement where you will gain insights into how designers, manufacturers or retailers work and gain hands-on experience to bring your skills, knowledge and creative senses together.

The Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels, is a two-year, full-time course that meets entry requirements for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in art and design areas before entering employment. Equally the course provides a fantastic vehicle to prepare for employment in the industry.
Learners taking this qualification will study two mandatory learning and teaching modules:
• Exploring and Developing Art and Design Skills
• Advancing Creative Practice
These provide the potential to not only develop your skills from fashion and design to media based work and set design, but also to prepare you for working professionally in the sector.
There are no exams with this course: your work is assessed via a number of briefs, and the weighting of scores comes from the second year; so you have time to develop those all-important skills.

The T-Level, with its in-depth content and brilliant work placement scheme, can lead to a well-paid job with great prospects for progression as soon as you leave college. You will study topics that include drawing, surveying, sustainability, design, construction techniques and digital technology. If you wish, the UCAS points will allow you to go on to university and qualify in a profession such as Architecture, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Project Management or Town Planning. The Civil Engineering profession is currently a very good career move, as the larger national infrastructure projects, such as HS2 and Hinckley C Power Station have absorbed most of the skilled people, creating a high demand elsewhere for Civil Engineers
